My Summer as a Shift-tern by Chloe Gasso
One piece of advice that I continued to receive while in college was the importance of students completing an internship… and I am SO glad I listened.
This summer I spent my time supporting the Shift Digital Employee Relations team on various projects. I have learned the ins and out of all things onboarding, offboarding, recruiting, internal communications, and more! I also gained a new sense of professionalism and what it is like to work for a large company. Shift Digital has nearly 700 employees and they are continuing to grow each year!
It has been so interesting learning what happens behind the scenes to support employees, starting with their first interaction with Shift during their initial phone screen with a recruiter throughout their time at the company. I have enjoyed being able to be the face and brand of the company when speaking with candidates in our support department.
It has also been fun being creative within my role by developing Shift's monthly newsletters. As an intern, sending out a communication to the entire company can be daunting, but I’m happy I had the opportunity to take on this project.
My interests in the field of human resources have grown and I feel that I have a good foundation built with all the new skills I have learned My time at Shift has been nothing short of amazing and I am so grateful for all the wonderful people I have worked with so far. I look forward to continuing to support the Employee Relations team into the fall as I complete my degree.
