As we SHIFT from Spring to Summer by Samantha Randolph

Published Date: 6/21/2016

Summer has finally arrived! Let’s look back on a few of the celebrations and events that took place at Shift Digital this spring…

First up was the St. Patrick’s Day celebration at HQ. On Thursday, March 17th, HQ was decked out in true St. Patty’s fashion, complete with a rainbow of balloons, pot o’ gold (lucky charms), and even a leprechaun. The leprechaun, also known as Stu Wylie, kicked off the party by handing out green leis, and posing for the occasional picture. To drink, Shifters were provided with freshly made mint green ice cream shakes topped with whipped cream. The festive drinks were prepared by Hope, from Two Unique Catering. Classic corned beef sandwiches and loaded potatoes were also provided by Two Unique.

Also in the month of March, Shift Digital March Madness was in full swing. As the weeks went by, the number of brackets left in the competition slowly dwindled, and finally, Caleb Lamz ended up taking first place. His prizes included 250 estore points, Shift Digital’s March Madness bracket champion jersey, a handsome trophy, and endless bragging rights. The runners up were Ian Barber with second place, who received 100 estore points and a trophy, and third place was taken by Brad Frohn who was awarded 50 estore points and a trophy. More importantly, at the end of the competition Shift Digital had raised over $4,000 for Pediatric Cancer Research on behalf of #PaulieStrong. Shift will continue to find creative ways to contribute to the PaulieStrong Foundation, as it is a cause near to our hearts.

Last but not least, Detroit’s Christmas in April, Opening Day! On Friday April 8th, HQ was turned into a classic Tigers tailgate. The only detail left out was the cold weather. Customized hotdogs were provided by Tom from Heavenly Hot Dogs, as well as delicious soft pretzels from Griffin Claw. For entertainment, other than watching the game on the big screen, liquid nitrogen ice cream was made in-house by Nice Modern Creamery. Through the plumes of smoke, cookie dough and caramel flavored ice cream flew off the counter faster than it was made. For those that did want to brave the chilly air, customized cornhole boards were set up in the courtyard. The opening day tailgate was a huge success, and the Tigers pulled off a win! They ended up beating the New York Yankees 4-0.

It was an eventful spring and the summer calendar is already filling up! Stay tuned for more Shift events and enjoy the sunshine!
